MarCom Awards & Videos

Hello Marlon and the rest of the spring semester Visual Rhetoric alum!

I just wanted to share with you all a couple things I’ve done professionally lately. You may remember that I was reporting from the Marine Corps (wounded warrior Paralympics) Trials for a couple weeks during class.

I just learned a feature I wrote while there just won a Platinum MarCom Award!

In addition, each department in at the USO was able to pitch in enough money for me to get a 5Dm3, an iMac, and Creative Cloud, allowing me to use my skills learned in class to produce the following stories:

I hope you are all doing well!

How do you delete files from Basecamp? I want to delete some of the draft videos and resources to free up space, but I don’t want to delete the messages that they are in because I want to be able to go back to those discussions.

Also, are we meeting for class on May 15, the week of finals?

The Art and Science of the Pitch | Final Project

Image

Curveball, Fastball, Circle Change-Up, Slider….Each are types of pitches thrown by baseball players from Little League to Major League Baseball.  Every unique pitch produces different motion, speed, and break and is selected based on the batter and as part of an overall strategy to minimize hits, and ultimately runs scored.

Through a series of interviews with a top-ranked High School pitcher, in the final stages of preparation for the MLB draft, this short film will explore the strategy, pitch selection process, and mechanics of three or four of the most commonly used pitches.  Based upon the allowable length of the finished piece, the film may also include the view and perspective of a FHSAA umpire and how he makes the split-second call that factors heavily into the outcome of the game.

I would enjoy having teammates for this project who can assist with research, narration, editing, or shooting b-roll.
